CLC Presents: BOLT Backyard VBS!

Instead of bringing your kids to VBS we are bringing VBS to your backyard!

Involving minimal preparation, easy to follow instructions, and a video that leads kids step-by-step through each day — this 3 day VBS experience will be perfect with every family in-mind! 
Elements will include: 

  • Bible story – Shown by video

  • Games – The game is shown via video, with prompts to pause the video so your kids can do it themselves in their own backyard! Besides the one game shown on the video there will also be a document provided to give families 3+ more game options to enjoy

  • Craft – Origami! All you will need is paper and watch the detailed video on how to create the craft. If the video is too fast, don’t worry because you will be provided with a detailed document showing the step-by-step 

  • Teaching Video – Video which ties together the Bible story, games and craft in one powerful message

  • Music – If you enjoy these songs you can find them on Spotify and enjoy all of the time!

Not only will families find this Backyard VBS curriculum easy and fun to enjoy, but your kids will also get to interact with other families and CLC Children’s Ministry Hosts with daily challenges and possible prizes to be won through the CLC BOLT VBS Facebook group! FAQ

When will this event take place?

BOLT VBS will begin on the morning of July 6th and continue on July 8th and 10th, but be sure to join the CLC BOLT VBS Facebook group to interact with other families in fun challenges throughout the week!  When you register you’ll be sent a link for the Facebook group where the videos for each morning will be posted.

What is the age range for Backyard VBS?

BOLT Backyard VBS is designed for 5 years old +; there’s something fun for everyone! 

How many children should be in my household in order for this to work effectively? 

BOLT works whether you have 2 people or 2,000. If your area is still under quarantine, a single family can perform BOLT by themselves with as few as one parent and one child. If gathering sizes/social distancing restrictions at the time allow you could invite neighbours, friends, and family over to enjoy BOLT Backyard VBS too.

Is it important for my children to be registered? 

Yes it is important for all children to be registered so we can ensure that every child who wants to participate will have all of the material needed for the BOLT Backyard VBS. 

How do I receive the material needed to run the Backyard VBS?

When you are registering your children there will be an option to receive the material electronically or as a curbside pick-up. 

  1. Electronically: All materials will be sent to your email address provided and you will need to print off some materials at home.

  2. Pick-up: Videos materials will posted to the VBS Facebook group, but all other instructions (games, craft, colouring pages etc) will be provided to you at the curb-side pick-up. 

EXTRAS: choosing curbside pick-up will allow us to also provide your children with a special swag bag (limited) and coloured square paper for their origami crafts! 

Pick-up location will be at Crossroads Life Church in Harriston, ON. 

Is there any preparation required for us to run the program at home?

Yes, but minimal. When you have received the BOLT VBS materials there will be a list of items required for the games and instructions on how to play these games which you can have prepared in advance. 

Snacks! There’s no specific snack that BOLT Backyard VBS requires so you can prepare any snack you would like your children to enjoy after their games! 

There will also be instructions on how to do the origami craft for each day along with video instructions that your children can follow along to, but you are definitely able to prep for this ahead of time if you wish.
